About Dan "Cosmo" Grupp, Phd

I'm currently the CEO and Co-Founder of LifeAir Medical. We are developing a radical new type of device that doesn't interfere with patients or hospital staff, yet can reduce the spread of airborne pathogens by over 90%, and constantly improving (FYI: filters in the building's air-conditioning only do about 50% at best when sick patients are still there). Our advisor is Dr. Fred Mihm, Director of the ICU at Stanford Hospital.I have a PhD in nanotechnology physics from U. Penn, and a BA in physics Cornell. I have over 40 patent. I invented a transistor that now in the iPhone when I was a Visiting Scholar at Stanford. Then I invented the break-through method of prostate surgery for Procept (first VP of R&D). Subsequently, I built the world's most sensitive, fast, and cheap malaria diagnostic that could save millions of kids' lives (for Hemex Health, Chief Scientist).

We are developing a break-through device that can have a huge impact on the spread of airborne pathogens in healthcare settings. I invented a device that shields patients and staff better than wearing an N95 mask, yet you don't have to wear anything. We are currently in stealth mode.

    Dwfritz Automation Aug 2015 - Mar 2016
    Wilsonville, Oregon, Us
Led cross-functional team integration of multi-million-dollar automation project, developing concepts, and capturing, tracking, and eliminating risk on over 100 details. Developed concept 10x faster than customer's proposal resulting in a purchase order moving them from $150k request to $500k sale. Developed and built a bench-top patentable prototype with >99.9% yield of an automated parts pick method that was improvement over customer's machine that had a >30% failure rate. Analysed customer assembly line and proposed a buffering method that saved over $3M. Discovered a flaw in customer's weld test methodology that could give erroneous and undetectable results and developed a 100% reliable low-cost fast IR inspection method . Developed and initiated a zero-error machine wiring system that can take a wiring task from 2 hours to 1 minute. Initiated pilot program for cloud-based best-practices task/project management software.
