Primarily functions as Highway Design Engineer for the Project Development Program of the Wyoming DOT. In addition to designing highways and streets, I assist in training student employees in designing highways and using the design software for WYDOT specific projects. The squad consists of three full time permanent employees (one Squad Leader and two Assistant Squad Leaders) and nine part time student employees. This is similar to an internship except that the students go to school full time and are required to work 20 hours/week in the squad.As a Project Engineer in the Laramie Design Squad, I am tasked with: *The design of highways and streets to meet federal and state standards *Designing wetland mitigation sites when required *Meeting deadlines *Writing inspection meeting reports *Prioritizing personnel and projects *Checking and documenting design quality *Corresponding with other concerned parties of each project assigned to me. *Training Engineering students in the Road Design process and software use *Writing training documents for students in the the squad and for senior design Comprehensive Design Experience in Transportation *Teaching Microstation and Geopak Software for the University's Comprehensive Design ExperienceI was also a student member of this squad from Fall semester of 2000 to graduation of Spring 2003.
