Ok. So maybe it wasn’t yesterday but THREE manys?Narrator: Yes many, many, many years ago…there was a girl who fell in love with photography and it changed the course of her entire life. Me: Ok, a little dramatic, but I think I can take it from here buddy…Hello, my name is Deidre (pronounced Dee-DRAH) and I really did fall in love with photography and in many ways finding an outlet to be artistically expressive did change my life, or at least, it was my doorway to eventually finding a fulfilling career in marketing. But I’m getting ahead of myself, as the guy stated above, it didn’t exactly happen overnight. My career began with a Canon T-50 and a few rolls of film. At that time we were a few years before the digital revolution in photography (ok, maybe he had a point about the time frame), and I had to hone my skills using the 32 exposures I could afford every other week. As time went on I taught myself everything I could learn about photoshop, photography and then eventually the entire adobe create suite. Photography led to design, and eventually I found myself working as the sole designer for Flint Auto Auction, a well known independent auction in Flint, MI (yes THAT Flint). But don’t let me fool you, before I made it to that job I worked as a title clerk, driver, administrative assistant for the Ally Financial account and SmartLane manager all the while applying for ANY job that opened up in Marketing. On my third try, I was finally given my first shot.3 years later, Flint Auto Auction was sold to Adesa and just a few short months later I was asked to join a new auction as their Marketing Director and my 5 years at FastLane Auto Exchange led me to a love of event planning, design, brand management and literally any other role that can be filed under “marketing” along with a few that could be filed under “IT”. As the industry goes, FastLane was purchased in February of 2022 by EBlock and I joined their corporate marketing team as Partner Marketing Manager in June of 2022 where my focus now is primarily on relationships with our acquisitions and their representation of the EBlock brand.So in conclusion, maybe our careers are much like the wands in Harry Potter in that I didn't choose marketing, marketing chose me.
