Public Safety Telecommunicator
Current- Answers calls to allow effective communication for citizens during emergency situations
- Provides information and referrals to citizens, public safety personnel, media, etc. by answering calls from Jefferson County and outside areas to allow for communication during non-emergency situations
- Operates and monitors communication equipment by reporting defective equipment, receiving and entering information transmitted through equipment, etc. to support call volume and proper working order of equipment
- Dispatches personnel and/or information to the requested source
- Monitors responses of public safety personnel by listening to radio transmissions, clarifying information, and performing periodic contact checks to maintain communication and ensure the safety of personnel
- Accesses and maintains suspect and/or incident information by running database queries, updating databases, completing reports/logs, and filing documentation
