Founded this independent, nonprofit public charity to support the priorities and activities of California Volunteers, a department of the Governor of the State of California. Working in partnership with a strong Board of Directors of civic leaders and California's Chief Service Officer, the Fund served as a bridge for private partnerships and resources that support engaging all Californians to come together to lift all communities through service, volunteerism and civic engagement. During its first three years, we raised more than $8 million and supported programs engaging thousands of Californians in service.

The Mayor's Fund for Los Angeles, the first of its kind in the City, launched under the leadership of Deidre Lind in June 2014 as a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to improving life for all Angelenos. Acting as a critical connector of government with the private, business, philanthropic and nonprofit sectors, the Fund raised $126 million during her tenure from more than 12,000 generous donors, and supported more than 80 different programs in partnership with more than 30 different City departments. Activating during the pandemic, the Fund solidified its value as a key partner with City government by activating quickly in support of Angelenos who needed it most. The Fund helped ensure delivery of meals to homebound seniors, mobile vaccinations, support of small business and direct cash assistance to more than 200,000 Angelenos in need. Other programs touched on sustainability, youth, workforce development, immigration/citizenship, community building and COVID-19 relief and recovery.Operating to the highest ethical and legal standards with a commitment to transparency, the Fund’s award-winning accomplishments touched the lives of millions of Angelenos.

The Pfaffinger Foundation, one of the oldest private foundations in Los Angeles, provides individual assistance to needy employees and retirees of the Los Angeles Times and its sister companies in the former Times Mirror Co., alongside support of social service agencies helping economically disadvantaged people achieve self-sufficiency. The Foundation has made more than $135 million in grants to support individuals and community organizations over its 84-year history.

Built the strategy and processes while leading this corporate, private foundation with approximately $10 million in annual total international giving. Created a robust infrastructure for global grantmaking, employee scholarship and matching gift programs, and both small/local and large/multi-year grants. Oversaw all finances and global reporting as well as annual audits.Directed and oversaw all grantmaking programs. Created Mattel's first international grants program active in 50 countries. Identified and oversaw strategic philanthropic partnerships that aligned with core values and social impact goals of the Foundation. Managed relationships and refined program support to best align the Foundation and individual NGO partners.

Working directly with the Chairman, Board of Directors and brand executives, lead social impact strategies and innovative, global philanthropic efforts which impacted more than 5 million children annually and built Mattel's impact as a responsible corporate citizen. Created and championed the first multi-brand, multi-discipline social impact and 'shared value' effort leveraging Mattel's unique assets, brands and resources to jointly maximize philanthropic and business opportunities worldwide. Led the development and approval for Mattel's first public sustainability goals and targets launched in November 2012. Served as internal expert and strategic advisor to all brands and markets for cause marketing, social impact and CSR initiatives. Highlights include:* Oversee philanthropic programs that equate to 2% of Mattel pre-tax profit including creating and leading strategy, developing measurement protocols, and communications strategies to share efforts with target audiences.* Led Employee Engagement and global volunteer strategies with double-digit increase in participation as measured over a five year period.* Created strategic platform for corporate sustainability efforts built on scientifically-based goals and targets. * Built community relations strategies tied to specific issues management objectives.
