I am a criminal defense lawyer who currently works exclusively to protect and vindicate the rights of the innocent. Inspired by our work in the Troy Davis case, I founded the nonprofit Innocence Matters in 2010. Since then, we have secured freedom for three clients who, collectively, have served 38 years for crimes they did not commit. Our primary mission at Innocence Matters is to prevent wrongful convictions. We use the lessons and stories from our exonerees to teach new lawyers and the general public how to avoid making the same mistakes.In 2016, I founded Seamus Law, A Professional Corporation, a civil rights firm where I partner with other civil litigators to vindicate exonerees who were convicted due to police misconduct.
