I managed a variety of teams that included software engineers, team leads, infrastructure engineers, and a security risk specialist. I also handled the infrastructure and security backlogs. I was involved with HIPAA, NY DFS, and other compliance concerns.

I managed two development teams working on Node.js and CloverDX projects. I also helped with tickets and was part of the on call rotations. I mentored three people into team lead roles.During this time I was able to take on a new role as head of infrastructure. I implemented new processes for more efficiency, auditability, and team happiness. I learned and developed a little in Terraform, Kubernetes through EKS, AWS, Cloudflare, and much more.I took the initiative on multiple projects, such as a new process for incident management, a DevOps Guild, and the initial architectural reviews.

For the last three years, I was an architect for the player management API and delivery system API, both built with Node.js. In addition to daily work with Node.js, I also used OAuth, MongoDB, and bare git repos. My experience with AWS is extensive and includes using S3 and SQS.For more than three years I was involved in all areas of DevOps. We monitored and deployed everything on our team and collaborate with the systems engineering group. I started out on a team that was on-call for all projects, and later I built up and became leader of the players on-call group.From 2008 to 2013, I was a product owner and developer on the Web video players. As a product owner on Brightcove's core product, I guided the advertising product roadmap, led a team, and triaged customer issues. My involvement with advertising also included participating on IAB technical committees, giving presentations, and communicating with ad partners. When not being a product owner, I was a developer of the players for Web video playback, programming in JavaScript, ActionScript, and Java. From 2006 to 2008, I was a developer on Aftermix. We built from the ground up this innovative, online video editor. I started as a Flex developer and later became the technical lead on the team. Beyond the Aftermix work, I was a ScrumMaster for multiple teams.

After Macromedia was acquired by Adobe, I was responsible for building significant parts of the Flex compiler and command-line tooling. I started a popular blog, now at https://deitte.com/old_home/index.htm, where I shared my experiences building Flex and engaged with the Flex developer community.

After Allaire was acquired by Macromedia, I developed JRun, ColdFusion, and Flex. I suggested and made changes in a new Java version of ColdFusion, and then I joined the Flex team before the 1.0 release.

I worked on JRun at Allaire, joining a talented group of engineers from an acquired company to build out a J2EE 1.3 server. I primarily worked on the servlet engine.

I spent my summers and extra time during the school year working on forum software and creating Java servlets and applets for customers.During this time period, although not at this job, I also created a book exchange software in Perl, released as open source, which was used on University of Iowa campus.
