I currently hold two Bachelors degrees from Virginia Commonwealth University, a B.S. in HPEX (Health, Physical Education, and Exercise Science) with a Health Science concentration and a B.A. in GSWS (Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies), also having a Health Science concentration. Alongside my degrees, I also have a minor in Chemistry. My next educational step will be obtaining my RN before continuing education and obtaining Midwifery certification. My long term career goal is to be a Certified Nurse Midwife, operating out of a birthing center. There is a strong need for diversity in the medical field, and a chance to help women and birthing parents that I share identities with, achieve their pregnancy and birth goals as freely and safely as they can is something I will achieve. I have experience in the medical field working at GreenGate OBGYN with VCU Health as well as my educational focus. I also have leadership experiences from a Supervisory position with Uptown Cheapskate and Birth in Color as the Director of Communications as an intern. Most recently, I work in the behavioral health field as a Crisis Counselor and have direct care experience serving clients in and around my community with substance use disorders, mental health disorders, alongside other crisis situations. I feel as though all areas of healthcare intersect and it is important to obtain and retain knowledge in all of these areas to provide the best care for and education to the population I serve at any given time. My biggest goal is to inspire others to use their voice, as loudly and proudly as they can. Embrace themselves for who they are and make the difference they want to see in the world, no matter how minuscule it can seem. I believe in change, and standing up for what is right. I am a dedicated employee, hardworking and passionate about any and all positions. I am currently open to immediate acceptance of a new opportunity to continue evolving.
