About Daniel Jaramillo
My name is Daniel Jaramillo!I am a Design Engineer II at Collins Aerospace in the Business Class seating team. I own design modules (Siemens NX) that include mechanical assemblies with sheet metal, thermoformed, and machined components. I make and review engineering drawings as per ASME Y14.5.I am also the Cost and Weight Lead for our team; I am responsible of auditing the cost and weight data through the team’s design phase and product lifecycle. In addition, I am the liaison between the Design and FEA teams. I’ve set up 100+ hours of FEA Design reviews, where I got to participate in the analysis of FEA results to make design change decisions with the ultimate goal of reducing the risk of failing Certification Dynamic Testing.I have a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from North Carolina State University, where I got to explore how Aerospace Engineering relates to ground vehicles, rockets, and planes. I worked with the model rocketry club, the Formula SAE club, and Undergraduate Research in wing aerodynamics. I led a Research project with the guidance of the Director of Aerospace Laboratories to work on an electronic system that could vary the angle of attack of a 3D-printed wing to study its aerodynamic characteristics. I designed, built, validated, and documented this electronic system. Here is a list of technical skills I learned from each role:High-Powered Rocketry Club-Programming with Arduino-Soldering and integrating different electronics-Manufacturing and quick fixing under time pressure-Troubleshooting Python code and coding with PythonWolfpack Motorsports-Machining steel and aluminum using a mill and heavy tools-CAD modeling in Creo Parametric-Meshing and Running surfaces in CFD software, STAR-CCM+Research Project-Design and build from the ground up a system that incorporates electronics-Data extraction and analysis using sensors connected to a LabVIEW VI, and using MATLAB for data processing and analysis-Prototyped wings using SolidWorks and a 3D-printerDuring my senior year, I was part of the rocketry senior design team. We participated in the NASA Student Launch competition, where we built a high-powered rocket to carry a simulated planetary lander as our payload. I was the Payload Integration Lead, where I had to design and build a payload integration system that could jettison the planetary lander. This led to my greatest accomplishment: the first successful payload deployment in the past three years of Senior Design team history!Contact Me: djaramillor3@gmail.comEngineering Portfolio: dejarami.wordpress.com
