I am part of the Environment, Health, Safety and Security department of the production plant in Westpoort Amsterdam. This is a BRZO-location, because of a risk for severe incidents. My focus is on the environmental issues: - Compliance management of the environmental permits: update and renewal - Compliance management 'Publicatie Gevaarlijke Stoffen' PGS9, 12, 15, 29, 30, 31 (storage tanks)- Air emission and waste water quality control- Energy efficiency management and prepration of Energy Efficiency Plan (EEP) as part of MJA3 -program- Contaminated soil issues, including safety measures for ground workers. - Waste management- Environmental incidents prevention- Environmental management (ISO14001)- Communicate with the authorities about all issues- Incident root cause analysis- Assist in the safety program: organising LMRA-campaign, participate in audits, assist with safety issues on site

Master thesis: 'Potential gas shales in the Netherlands: research for source rocks and exploration methods.’ Potentie van schaliegas in Nederland- Amerikaanse schaliegasvelden bestudeerd, belangrijkste karakteristieken vastgesteld- van 17 schalie formaties de karakteristieken bekeken met publieke boorputdata- onderzoek naar diepte, dikte, TOC (totaal organisch materiaal) en temperatuurkader per formatie om potentiaal te bepalen (laag, medium of hoog)- Grof een eerste berekening van totaal gas aanwezig gemaakt- Resultaten en cijfers zijn gepubliceerd in Trouw (mei 2009)---First research for shale gas potential in the Netherlands (onshore):- study american shale gas plays to establish 4 most imortant charateristics- main characteristics are: depth, thickness, total organic content and maturity- study public drill data of 17 shale members and indicate the potential (low, medium, high)- Rough estimate of gas in place in the onshore area of the Netherlands (GIP)- Study and GIP are published in Trouw (national newspaper) in May 2009
