Mobius Medical Systems was acquired by Varian Medical Systems in February 2018. Continued work on scientific software development for radiation oncology patient QA solutions.

Developed computational physics algorithms for radiation oncology - fluence calculations, energy absorption through media, and radiation scattering and reabsorption. Developed automodeling system for matching beam parameters to measured values. GPU computing via CUDA, and extensive use of numpy, scipy, matplotlib, and Mayavi.

Developed production system “EmBase” for analyzing custom hardware signals. Developed DSP algorithms to take turn raw biometric data (heart oxygen, multiple EEG sensors, accelerometers) into useful vectors for our analytics team. Worked with R&D to incorporate new ideas and algorithms into a scalable and efficient production system. Used statistical methods to assess validity of conclusions. Utilized cloud infrastructure to enable 100x growth.

Tackled scaling issues for next order of growth: redesigning database schemas, implementing innovative new logic to simplify expensive operations, analyzing performance bottlenecks. Designed XML-based RESTful web services to provide functionality to core products and to third-party developers. Designed and coordinated sensitive data clean-up of a highly concurrent system. Architected new systems to support new features and improve scalability.

Implemented optimization and scalability project for distributing company’s Internet search system to multiple servers, increasing indexed document count by orders of magnitude to over 100 million and decreasing typical search time to sub-second. Took over, refactored, and improved advertising subsystem to improve relevancy. Designed new systems for pilot projects with partners. Wrote intricate new graphical tools to manage large XML files and terabyte databases. Implemented performance monitors across all subsystems.

Developed framework for general analysis of groups of Inertial Confinement Fusion numerical simulations. Analyzed results, recognized trends, and posited model to explain behavior. Developed analytical framework to compare and analyze result sets through unique visualizations. Presented and discussed results regularly with laboratory scientists.
