I am an overcomer. My senior year of high school, circumstances arose that would prevent most people from going to college. I went to college anyway and won several awards/scholarships along the way. When I entered graduate school (Baylor College of Medicine), several of the faculty members said that I would not make it because I had come from a community college. Baylor College of Medicine is consistently ranked as one of the best medical schools in the country. By the time I completed my Ph.D., I had published more papers than anyone in the the history of the department. When I took a job at the chemical plant, many people said again that I would not make it because I did not have field experience. I certified and mastered all areas of the plant. I also worked on the medical and fire teams.

OperationsIneos Phenol Apr 2010 - PresentI am certified to operate all areas of the plant. This includes the biological, utilities, unit, rail and offsite areas. I am also certified to run the control board. I gather samples of chemicals coming into the plant and our product leaving the plant. I analyze these chemicals in the lab and make adjustments to keep the plant making high-quality material. I also serve on the medical team and the fire brigade.
