I currently teach Kindergarten at Gallistel Language Academy on Chicago's East Side. I create critical thinking based lessons using curriculums such as Go Math, Journey's, Wilson, and various other resources. I continuously track student progress using i-ready and teacher created assessments. I am also proficient in the use of Branching Minds as a data collection space. This data is applied to lesson modifications or differentiations. I collaborate on my schools MTSS (Multi-Tiered Support System) team for students with academic and behavioral struggles.

I taught Kindergarten in a co-teaching based charter school program for the academic year of 2020-2022. This school was located on the south side of Chicago in the neighborhood South Shore. I created critical thinking based lesson plans, with a focus in guided reading during this time. I also worked under an instructional coach to guide my planning and instruction for my students.

Currently student teaching in a first grade classroom through Chicago Public Schools. I create lessons, teach, and control classroom management as I take over full-time as the head teacher. I am under my cooperating teacher, who mentors me and guides my teaching.

Peoria, Illinois

During this time, I was in a second grade classroom full-day every Tuesday and Thursday. The time spent in here helped me reflect on the importance of community in the classroom and how to make learning applicable to all my students experiences. I was also required to write lessons and teach math, science, and reading. I took on lead teacher roles under my mentor at the time as well.

Bloomington, Illinois

During this time, I was in a Pre-K classroom setting at Brigham School in Bloomington for 3 hours every Tuesday and Thursday. During this time I observed classroom management, the importance of community, and how to teach lessons and keep young children engaged and focused.

Romeoville, Illinois

This year long program was offered through my high school. At this facility, I learned to create lesson plans, how to accommodate the needs of all children, and gain experience working with preschool aged children. I earned my gateways level 1 throughout the course. I was awarded student of the quarter and student of the year for my program.
