Within Openet I work with a variety of languages and technologies to build a core framework which is utilised by our many products. Working with a small feature team I work on our Diameter application layer which is responsible for handling traffic related to policy management for telecom operators. The requirements around this are low latency and large traffic load management, this leads to designs involving multi-threading and performance cost considerations for each new feature.I have also worked with the Java OSGI platform to build services which are not coupled to the core framework and are released independently using maven and artifactory. These services have made use of frameworks such as Jersey, and Spring.I regularly attend and give input at refinement meetings for new features. Close collaboration with architects and team members to build out a design document before starting the implementation is an important part of my role. During the development process, the use of Jenkins CI plays a large part in giving fast feedback on how code changes have affected the product, by automating build and regression testing.
