I am an equity-minded higher education scholar and practitioner seeking to apply my Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration and Policy to make a positive impact in the field of higher education. I have been working with students one-on-one and in group settings, virtually and in-person, at the community college level and the university level, for over 5 years. I've primarily worked at Hispanic Serving Institutions where the predominant student population is Hispanic/Latinx, first-generation and/or low-income. I am a first-generation student and transfer student myself, so I identify with many of the challenges underserved and marginalized student populations face in their pursuit of higher education.I am a higher education Program Coordinator/Supportive Services Administrator experienced in leading a program which centers equity and provides targeted support to racially marginalized and underserved student populations. I have worked in higher education for over 5 years, but for the past three years, as the leader of the School of Education’s Writing Support Program at UC Riverside, I have had the privilege of merging my decade of leadership experience with my passion for, and experience in, higher education. This role afforded me the opportunity to apply my past experience as a Training Coordinator to my growing writing program and focus on two of my greatest passions—student success and people development.I deeply believe in the power of education for change and am committed to guiding students on the path to academic success. I have an undying passion to provide access and support to underserved students and am fiercely devoted to showing them that higher education is not only attainable, but can provide them with opportunities they previously believed were out of reach.
