I provide expert investigative skills and guidance in the management of a range of serious crime offending across Jamaica. I hold overview of investigations ensuring the most effective assessment, analysis and review of cases, including crime scene visits and CCTV liberation; securing all opportunities to identity evidence. I hold exceptional knowledge around international best practice; ensuring absolute compliance with all legal and ethical requirements. This role has required exceptional risk assessment and risk management skills, developing good practice and in some cases introducing specialist investigative roles not previously used by the organisation. I have pressed on various innovations across the organisation, highlights include; • Development and delivery of specialist courses to promote best practice and organisational resilience. This has included developing the first family liaison course for the organisation and facilitating a senior investigators course.• Designed and delivered specialist training around excellence in communication, focusing on interaction with witnesses, family members and other stakeholders. I delivered this training in innovative relaxed environments to promote participation and ease of learning.• Proactive participation in a working group to consider and improve crime management systems. I provided a depth of experience to provide workable solutions to long term issues, contributing to a new system which has been accepted as new organisational practice.• I successfully covered the Inspector of Investigations role at both Western and Central Regional offices with limited resources.• I transformed the lowest performing team within the Commission into one of the highest achieving ones. This included close management of a long standing but underachieving team member; I provided close support which led to her return to top performing investigator.

Sapphire Command

I was tasked with the investigation of the most serious sexual offences; I consistently brought an attentive and sensitive approach to this work. Leading on complex investigations, I demonstrated a depth of understanding of legal requirements, case management and the disclosure process. I managed cases of serious sexual assaults, ensuring the highest levels of evidence were secured through effective interviewing, review of CCTV material and intelligence gathering. A particular success was my management of a serious offence which had stalled and needed the most thoughtful and yet determined approach to resolve and progress. The complainant was withdrawing due to increasing fear during the progression of the case. I was able to reassure on the strong evidence of the case and all evidence she offered, would be discreetly managed and that witness protection services were fully available to her. The case secured a substantial conviction; driven by my tenacity and determination to see the right outcome secured.

Homicide Command

Selected to this specialist role I worked within a busy and demanding enquiry team which required the very highest levels of organisation and management. I dealt with all aspects of investigations from initial enquiries and forensic management through to compilation and presentation of case files. I carried out exceptionally demanding interviews with both suspects and witnesses. The high standard of my work attracted my nomination, by a senior officer, for the Institute for Customer Services NCS Professional of the Year Awards. This was the first time the MPS had put forward nominees. I demonstrated my ability though the presentation of my work as a Family Liaison Officer within two very demanding cases; the London bombings and the high profile murder of an overseas visitor to London.

Trident Command

I was selected to join one of the most demanding and complex areas of policing in the challenge to gang culture. The role required a sensitive, considered and highly organised approach to tasks in order to counter this fast evolving and challenging aspect of society. I worked in both covert and overt settings intelligence gathering, investigating and presenting evidence in Crown Court. A challenging aspect of this role was to overcome a widespread distrust of policing within affected communities. I consistently built trust and established strong working relationships leading to securing vital witness statements and retrieval of exhibits which added forensic value to investigations.

National Criminal Intelligence Service

I was tasked with the gathering and dissemination of covert intelligence to operational teams across both the National and Regional Crime Squads. This included managing detailed briefings and quick accurate dissemination of intelligence to operational team members and responding in fast time to ensure cover when inevitable fluctuations and demands on resourcing arose.

Posted to a busy and challenging area of London I was tasked with a wide range of investigations including fraud, burglary robbery and serious violence, delivering the very highest standards of evidence to support subsequent convictions.

Like all police officers, I began my service as a constable, moving steadily through a wide foundation of training and development. This allowed me to successfully transfer to detective duties having demonstrated an intelligent and competent eye for detail, enquiry and observation.
