About Della Mendivil, M.Ed

Welcome! I have had the privilege of teaching in Title 1 schools for the last 4 years. Before that, I worked as a Native Outreach peer mentor for community college students as well as devoting my time to tutoring 1st - 8th grade students. I now have transitioned to working with my community (the Los Angeles Native urban community). I am excited to connect with other Native spaces/orgs in the L.A. area. As a first generation student and Tohono O'odham (Native) woman, I always am looking for collaboration to support my Native community and the youth; as a well as other underrepresented communities. I am a mom and proud to be a previous student of the California community college system. I primarily grew up in Los Angeles county, however I began my schooling on my tribes (Tohono O'odham) reservation (San Xavier District) in Tucson, Arizona for a few years. I am daughter to Manuel Mendivil; a Native Veteran, Gourd Dancer and Active community member. I also dance traditional Fancy Shawl at powwows and am working on dancing again with my son in the near future.
