I supported Dovetail's ongoing projects related to community and landowner engagement in sustainable forestry and climate resilience through research and outreach.I lead initial research and outreach in Minnesota for Dovetail’s community-based wildfire resiliency work. I gathered data on over 75 communities related to local capacity, wildfire risk, and social and economic indicators. I also built relationships and identified potential partners and their desired directions for the project. This work helps connect fire-prone and underserved communities access grants and resources for climate resilience.Additionally, I worked with a team to research and write a report to help the Forest Service engage with underserved forest owners in the South. This research involved qualitative and quantitative information gathering and analysis. Both Dovetail projects have prepared me to engage thoughtfully with environmental justice data and appreciate the complexities of disaster and climate resiliency in vulnerable communities.

Chiang Mai, Thailand

I interned at a land rights and environmental justice NGO as a part of my semester in Chiang Mai.- Produced analytical report on the NGO’s policy advocacy and campaigns on land and natural resource rights. Identified NGO’s place within the regional movement, drew comparisons with other organizations, and highlighted areas for future improvement. - Conducted field research and over 22 interviews in indigenous communities and at conferences.- Produced an article profiling one community and its struggle for rights to traditional livelihood, raising awareness of the NGO’s work and land rights movement among international readers and funders.
