I write narrative fiction and scripts. My work has been published by Bantam Books, Pocket Books, Donald I. Fine, DAW, Dark Horse, Marvel Epic, Barnes & Noble, RhinocEros, Rolling Thunder Graphics, Avon Books, Penguin-Putnam, Caliber, Penthouse Publications, Image, Warner Brothers/Aspect, Mojo and Telos. Magazine publications include "Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine," "Amazing Stories," "Omni" and a continuous column in "Design" magazine from 1995-2008. My work has won the International Horror Guild Award and has appeared in books that have won the World Fantasy Award and Bram Stoker Award. My novella "Black Tide" has been optioned for a movie. I also won an honorable mention for columns from the National Lesbian and Gay Journalist Association for a "Design" essay.

I am the online content editor for the Northwest Florida Daily News. My duties include developing new products, producing occasional videos, creating slideshows, instituting new software protocols, troubleshooting site problems, establishing new content strategies and forms, providing technical support for customers, serving as a local liaison with corporate site requirements, managing the newspaper's social media presence, and contributing content. I am not an IT person but have accrued a consumer level of experience working with various platforms and digital technologies.

The features editor is responsible for all stories, art elements and photos appearing in the features sections. He or she makes assignments, edits copy and develops new content. During my tenure as features editor readership increased to outpace all sections except news.

The design editor was responsible for choosing wire copy and photos for all news pages, editing copy and photos, designing pages, writing headlines and cutlines, proofing completed pages, and designing non-wire pages such as the Local news section lead, the editorial page, and various feature section fronts and interiors. He also was responsible for developing the overall design style of the newspaper, including text fonts, photo treatments, standing elements, cutline style and other design components.

After successfully completing my student teaching methods class from January-May 1979 I completed my degree work and graduated at the end of the fall quarter, 1977. I began substitute teaching in January 1978 through May 1979.
