Leveraged robust professional leadership history in insurance and corporate law to reimagine strategies, teams, and spending, ultimately delivering a legacy with the renowned multidisciplinary culture and arts organization.★ ★ ★Through her leadership at Nationwide, Demetries was given the opportunity to serve on the board of the Martin Luther King Jr. Performing & Cultural Arts Complex (The King Arts Complex) in Columbus, Ohio. When their CEO retired in 2011, Demetries’ fellow board members encouraged her to pursue the role. While she accepted the position for an interim, she soon fell in love with the work at the distinguished institution where she continues to lead more than a decade later.★ ★ ★When Demetries took the role of ED and CEO, The King Arts Complex was unstable. Through her passion, commitment, and exceptional turnaround leadership, Demetries completely transformed the multidisciplinary arts institution. Her laser-sharp focus on financial stability trickled down into every aspect of the organization including board alignment, donor engagement, brand equity, community programming, talent management, and capital improvements.★ ★ ★Now the thriving institution is an anchor in the capital city and a reputable contributor to the social justice movement. As a result of the dramatic improvements and its fiscal stability, the complex successfully weathered the pandemic by seamlessly pivoting to virtual programming. Additionally, under Demetries’ leadership, the complex has boasted a balanced budget every year for 10 years, a net surplus for 8 years, has built significant savings, and has secured its first-ever institutional endowment.★ ★ ★Now seeking board opportunities, Demetries remains active as a servant leader. She is a member of The Ohio State University Self Insurance Board, the Treasurer of the Ohio Bar Liability Insurance Company, a member of the Columbus Cultural Leadership Council, and serves on the committee for the Columbus Symphony Orchestra Project 2025. Residing in historic Grandview Heights, Demetries is a proud mother of one daughter and a leader to the thousands of people who visit The King Arts Complex each year.
