Became part of the Greek Community of Toronto to teach Greek as a second language to children and adults of Greek or foreign descent, as well as to actively promote and support Greek culture through participation and preparation of events organized by the Departments of Education and Culture.• Examined and pursued ways to promote environmental awareness among students, as well as to make the school and community buildings more environmentally friendly, by improving their energy efficiency, recycling and waste management programs.

Assumed an assistant researcher role as a member of the Ecological Modelling Lab, at the University of Toronto Scarborough, looking at the use of ecological models to elucidate ecological patterns in a watershed context and to assist environmental management.• Assisted in a large-scale research study of all 43 Areas of Concern (AOCs) in the Great Lakes Basin, which have been designated as impaired due to environmental degradation of designated Beneficial Uses, under the 1987 Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement between Canada and the United States. Assessed delisting criteria and identified best efforts to attain non-impaired status for the water bodies.• Assisted in an ongoing study for the Bay of Quinte, a Canadian Area of Concern (AOC) in Lake Ontario, for which many of its Beneficial Uses have been characterized as impaired due to severe degradation of water quality and environmental health. Researched an integrated modelling framework that combines stakeholder values, expert judgment, and mathematical modelling to establish optimal delisting criteria. (1 scientific paper in Ecological Informatics, co-author)• Assisted in an ongoing study in collaboration with Environment Canada, looking at Hamilton Harbour, an Area of Concern (AOC) in Ontario, Canada heavily impaired for most of its Beneficial Uses. Examined the use of ecological modelling to improve understanding of the system, establish realistic water quality goals and identify key goals for restoration efforts. (1 presentation at the IAGRL International Annual conference on Great Lakes Research in 2016)• Researched relevant scientific literature, compiled large data sets, performed data modelling and created graphical data presentations.

Joined North America’s leading firm in the provision of Greek language consulting services as office administrator and translator, charged with translating, proofreading and preparing documents, as well as providing interpretation services for clients, and ensuring impeccable daily office operations, task inflow management and prompt delivery of final products.• Translated documents from the environmental, technical, educational, medical, legal and arts industries, between English and Greek, researching and ensuring proper terminology use.• Prepared and translated the deliverables for a large Canadian geothermal company partnership client (Canexxus Geothermal-SKM-KUTh Energy) participating in a Greek Government tender for four geothermal development concessions.• Researched framework and procedures and prepared a thorough report for a client wishing to develop a 100kW Solar Photovoltaic project under the Feed-In-Tariff Program (FIT) of Ontario Power Authority (OPA).

Assumed an assistant researcher role, as part of my graduate thesis' requirements, in an ongoing research study by McGill University funded by Environment Canada, aiming to investigate whether certain widely produced Brominated Flame Retardant chemicals (PBDEs, HBCD) act as endocrine disruptors, potentially having adverse effects on the health of wildlife avian species.• Prepared a thorough report for the ethics committee to substantiate minimal effects of proposed study on captive birds in comparison to potential gained understanding of flame retardant effects on avian wildlife.• Organized and performed extraction of blood samples from birds as part of data collection.• Organized and created the experimental method setup for behavioural observations of birds.• Conducted morphological measurements of birds and recorded behavioural traits (posture/activity) over time to determine potential reduction in hunting efficiency or diminished reaction to predators due to chemical exposure.• Performed statistical analysis and interpretation of comprehensive graphical data using SAS/SPSS.• Researched relevant scientific literature and compiled study deliverables for Environment Canada as well as my Masters’ thesis based on study findings.• Ensured meticulousness in the feeding and care of a captive colony of small birds of prey.

• Performed daily analysis of water samples from the city’s water springs using existing guidelines and assessed chemical output to determine compliance with established quality standards for potable water.

• Collaborated in conducting plant pathology experiments with emphasis on evaluating three different types of bait in the "Attract and kill" pest management method used to control the olive fruit fly (Dacus oleae) within olive tree groves, to determine the most efficient product and effectively replace common insecticides. • Assisted in planning an experiment with a focus on assessing the impact of increased levels of tropospheric ozone due to air pollution on forest plant leaves in the Parnitha mountain range near the city of Athens.

• Conducted atmospheric pollution measurements monitoring with the environmental office of the largest oil refinery in Greece, charged with visiting the environmental measurement station to gather daily air quality data and to compile and manage large databases.• Translated environmental instrument manuals into Greek from English.• Collaborated in assessing the effectiveness of floating roof tanks by estimating stored products evaporation losses.
