Being a "particle physicist turned software engineer" I develop C++-based software for the "Alcedo Beetle", a small x86 compatible computer that supports several existing communication standards in building automation. It reads out meters and data points via BACnet, M-Bus, or Modbus and interfaces with the Alcedo web application which is an integrated SCADA, energy and facility management solution. I acquired my programming skills developing scientific software and context-specific algorithms with C/C++ and Python for physics analyses. I have used data mining and statistical analysis methods, and have modeled data using Monte Carlo techniques.I work in Unix/Linux networked environments and am familiar with the installation, configuration, and administration of such systems.
