Responsibilities include: Supervise and direct entire development program, including budget planning and development, for a multi-faceted fund development department of a comprehensive social services agency. Implements fund development programs that include interfacing with and stewardship of current and potential donors, major donor acquisition, strategic fundraising plan, the development of endowment/planned giving programs, significant corporate gifts, and fundraising events to advance the mission and of the organization. Research, identify, cultivate, and sustain relationships with current, new and potential grant-giving organizations, responsible for the development of a highly effective interdepartmental proposal/grant program, researching, writing, tracking, and reporting of grants. Information management components include all aspects of fundraising database applications. Management of agency public relations and marketing programs, ensuring that publications, socialnetworks, and website include donor-focused content, responsible for the development of marketing strategies and materials, advertisements, press releases and public service announcements, in collaboration with executive director, Board of Directors, program managers, staff, and consultants. Provide strategic planning efforts for organizing outreach activities which increase community awareness of and extend the reach of organizational programs and services and participate in numerous networking opportunities in the community, represent the organization, magnify and multiply the community presence of the organization. Compose, edit, and review executive correspondences, presentations, minutes, and reports, organizing and scheduling meetings, prepare and distribute materials for board and committee meetings.

Responsibilities included: Supervised, directed and trained support staff, interns, and volunteers for a multi-faceted financial development department.  Provided management, training, financial administration, and fiscal reporting while implementing major fund development programs that included interfacing with and stewardship of current and potential donors, major donor acquisition, significant corporate gifts, and fundraising events to advance the mission of the organization. Identified, cultivated, and sustained relationships with current, new and potential grant-giving organizations, responsible for the development of a highly effective interdepartmental proposal program, led grant writing workshops for staff and volunteers, provided training and supervision to staff, interns, and volunteers for writing, tracking, and reporting of grants. Information management components included Raiser’s Edge donor database applications. Provided strategic assistance and support in planning, enhancing development efforts such as outreach activities which increased community awareness of and extended the reach of organizational programs and services, participated and represented the organization in numerous networking opportunities in the community.

Over 15 years, I held many positions of leadership within the ordained clergy of the United Methodist Church and although I am not presently serving a church full time, my ordination is still as Elder. However, I now find it necessary to stay in one place for a while due to personal changes in my family situation. Therefore, I am now working for an organization that allows me to utilize my gifts and graces for leadership, event management, and fund raising and also affords me the opportunity to stay in one place for a while.I do intend to return to local parish ministry at some point in the future. Until that time, I trust that God and fate will provide me with experiences and learning that will allow me to continue to learn, grow so that I may be even better at serving God and the people of God both now and upon my return.
