Provided high-level technical programming and operational support for business applications. Managed weekly software patching to several thousand client sites. Responsible for annual software upgrades: delivery of upgrade, upgrade process, safeguarding features, and tracking. Reduced store conversion timeline from six weeks to less than two by creating a standardized data conversion process. This standardization subsequently enabled record conversion of a large customer acquisition. Served as point-man for 1,440 store conversion: programmed data conversion code for legacy system (approximately 1,000 stores), developed installation scripts, wrote installation and conversion instructions, trained 3rd party installers, coordinated on-the-fly conversion modifications and enhancements during the 14 week conversion and wrote tracking tool for management visibility. Wrote data conversion for accounting migration to Lawson as well as ongoing HR employee update programs. Performed extensive work in software problem diagnosis and correction, disaster recovery, data conversions, bulk data manipulation and government compliance modifications including SOX compliance. Taught general COBOL to lead support technicians. Created multiple software tools to enhance customer support services and assist in delivery of key software updates. Assisted client support technicians on resolution of client problems. Advised development programmers on integration of new features and functions. Gained substantial experience in COBOL programming, Unix scripting and UNIX operating systems.
