Edited MARC records which are used to catalog library books. Scrutinized every little detail on every book's t.p. verso (back of title page) to make sure book & record were an exact match. Linked individual books to their appropriate MARC records using a hand-held scanner. Great way to get tendonitis, should you ever want it.

I promoted and sold products called "dynamic inflatables": tall skinny plastic men attached to fans blowing air. Normally 10-20 feet tall; they are used by companies to attract business. Thanks to Seth MacFarlane's animated comedy series Family Guy, this product has become known in popular culture as "Wacky Waving Arm Flailing Inflatable Tube Man."

In college I established myself as a freelance 'driver for hire,' shuttling fellow students to and from their parents’ homes during school breaks. My stipulation was that they be from somewhere I wanted to visit. I worked on a barter system; I got free room, board and gas... plus the chance to explore a new city. All I had to do was drive and keep these people company. I love to drive. This is how I got to see NYC, Boston, Katharine Hepburn's coastal Connecticut home, and New Orleans.Visiting pre-Katrina New Orleans turned my life on end, in a good way. An amazing woman named Ann was visiting my roommate. She proposed a spontaneous road trip to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. My roommate was unable to go, so this joyful free spirit asked me to go with her, having known me only a few weeks. The road trip to this magical city forever enhanced my life and helped open my eyes to all the possibilities which lay before me. Ann paid my way and I paid her back over the next couple months. I drove her car. We sampled local radio during the drive. We sang along to a reggae station in Alabama. We reveled in the Mardi Gras music played on WWOZ in New Orleans. My friend who housed us worked at WWOZ and we got to take a tour. He introduced us to the poet & political activist John Sinclair. Google him. John Lennon wrote a song about him. This road trip began a lifelong friendship with Ann and a lifelong affinity for New Orleans.
