I've written, submitted, and published hundreds of articles, tips, greeting cards, and essays in magazines and anthologies such as Reader's Digest, Family Circle, Parenting, Redbook, Ladies' Home Journal, Writer's Digest, Home Life, Focus on the Family, The Writer, and Chicken Soup for the Soul. I've also had twelve books published by nationally-known, royalty publishers (Barbour, Kregel, David C. Cook). With each new book, I've partnered with my publishers to promote the releases through blogging, social media marketing, speaking engagements, and radio and television interviews.In addition, I've served as ghostwriter/collaborator for publishers such as Thomas Nelson, Barbour, and Rose/Hendrickson.

I served as a Communications Specialist for the Humanitarian Disaster Institute at Wheaton College. In this role, I managed the HDI team's communications of all kinds--from podcast episodes for HDI's "The Better Samaritan" podcast with Christianity Today to e-newsletters and social media for the Institute's masters program. I also managed communications for Spiritual First Aid, an online certification course and training program for emotional and spiritual care created by my two colleagues, Jamie Aten and Kent Annan.

I assisted Jamie Aten, PhD, Founder of Humanitarian Disaster Institute, with organization, scheduling, marketing/promotion, networking, and correspondence. I also assisted with the Spiritual First Aid online course developed by Jamie and Kent Annan.

I selected curriculum and presented lessons in both grammar and literature to homeschool co-op students in grades 7-12. I also graded papers, met with parents and students as needed, tutored, and planned field trips and service projects.

I served as an editor for The High Calling, an online magazine owned by the HEB Foundation for Laity Renewal. Working in tandem with twelve other editors on our virtual team, I brainstormed content and worked with a stable of freelance writers to create the best articles possible. I also promoted TheHighCalling.org via social media (helping to manage our Facebook page of over 99,000 fans) and regularly contributed my own articles to the magazine.

Amarillo, Texas Area

I maintained the charity's website and social media accounts, wrote the monthly e-newsletter, managed internal and external communications, and spoke to groups about the mission of CFS. I worked very closely with the executive director to re-brand and re-build the image of the organization. This included writing all the copy for a new website. In addition, I helped write grant proposals, assisted with donor relations, and set up fundraising events, coordinating details with vendors and community partners.

Through speaking, writing, and public relations, I helped create awareness for the growing needs of the refugee community in Amarillo and the work done for them by Catholic Family Service. My roles included networking through community events, many which I planned and implemented. I also served as a media spokesperson on radio and television for the refugee resettlement division, and vetted/placed volunteers in various roles. (Note: Donations and volunteers increased 40 percent during my tenure.)

I rehearsed weekly with professional cast, sang and acted in hundreds of shows during 30+ weekends a year, and represented Rockbox Theater in public settings and community events.

I worked as a part-time music instructor for the elementary grades at this Classical Christian academy. I created and implemented lesson plans and worked with the students on singing, learning about composers and compositions, and performing.

I assisted editors in creating a monthly event calendar for Waco area, and interviewed, researched, and wrote 2-3 pieces a month for Discover Waco magazine.
