About Dena Kimball

Executive Director ⇛ Nonprofit & Philanthropy ⇛ Education ⇛ Social Justice & Advocacy ⇛ “People-First” executive tapping 25 years of accumulated insights to develop future change makers.“𝑰 𝒘𝒐𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒃𝒆 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆?” As an executive leader, mentor and coach this question, my own mother's mantra, passed on to three generations, invokes creativity as an ally to others even in the most challenging situations. Encouraging my teams to internalize this and embrace a curiosity-first mindset has been foundational in delivering transformational social impact around the world. My role as Executive Director at the Kendeda Fund has been an incredible journey of building an amazing team, digging deep into the social issues that are closest to my heart, and doing so in a way that never strayed from our founder’s values. It has been a joyful workplace I’ve called home for nearly a decade. Now that Kendeda is on-pace to sunset, I’m looking for new ways to serve while leaning into the question I pose to others-- “I wonder what this will be like?”𝑨 𝑪𝑨𝑹𝑬𝑬𝑹 𝑱𝑶𝑼𝑹𝑵𝑬𝒀 𝑨𝑵𝑪𝑯𝑶𝑹𝑬𝑫 𝑰𝑵 𝑺𝑶𝑪𝑰𝑨𝑳 𝑨𝑪𝑻𝑰𝑽𝑰𝑺𝑴While Kendeda is my most recent chapter, my career story has encompassed a 360° perspective in the social sector. I’ve served in nearly every role there is to serve in - doing development and program building, leading a community-based organization, directing a large-team at a national nonprofit, running a philanthropy, and serving on a diverse array of non-profit boards.Regardless of the position, I’m proud that I’ve left every opportunity stronger or more positively transformed than I found it. Through every challenge, my teams and I have, together, “met the moment” while navigating through ambiguity to realize long-term, sustainable impact.𝑵𝑬𝑾 𝑫𝑶𝑶𝑹𝑺 𝑶𝑭 𝑷𝑶𝑺𝑺𝑰𝑩𝑰𝑳𝑰𝑻𝒀When I consider my career experiences, strengths, and what I love most, I know developing the next generation of social changemakers is what I’d like to do. At the root of my leadership, I am a devoted developer of others. I look forward to discovering all the opportunities there will be to engage with others while continuing my service - inside or outside formal non-profit settings.
