New York Times best-selling author Denene Millner is a highly respected and sought-after award-winning journalist whose captivating books, columns and essays have secured her foothold in the entertainment, parenting, book publishing and social media industries. The veteran author has written and collaborated on 31 critically-acclaimed and bestselling books, among them: Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man, co-written with Steve Harvey; Around the Way Girl, a memoir with actress Taraji P. Henson; and, The Vow, the novel on which the hit Lifetime movie, “With This Ring,” was based. She also is the editorial director of Denene Millner Books, a Simon & Schuster imprint that publishes books featuring African American children and families. In the imprint’s debut year, “Crown: An Ode to the Fresh Cut,” won Newbery and Caldecott honors and the Kirkus Prize for Children’s Literature. In its debut year with Simon & Schuster, Denene Millner Books’ “Me & Mama” won a Caldecott Honor and a Coretta Scott King Award Honor for illustration.Millner spent a decade working as a columnist, contributing editor, and blogger for Parenting, a national magazine for which she provided witty, engaging, mom-to-mom advice on everything from childrearing and marriage to work and friendship. Her work at the magazine led her to founding and editing MyBrownBaby.com, an oft celebrated, award-winning website that examines parenting and motherhood through a distinctive multicultural lens. Under Millner’s leadership, MyBrownBaby has won numerous awards and worked with some of the top brands in the world, from Disney and Target to Instagram and many more, solidifying it as one of the most respected and celebrated niche blogs on the web and earning Millner regular appearances as a parenting and relationships expert on the Today show, The Meredith Vieira Show and HLN, and guest appearances on CBS’s The Early Show, NPR, CNN, MSNBC and VH-1. This work secured her a spot as a co-host on Georgia Public Broadcasting’s “A Seat at the Table,” a talk show about black women, and as host of the podcast “Speakeasy with Denene,” a celebration of the beauty of the African American experience. Her latest novel, “One Blood,” a multi-generational epic about motherhood, adoption and race, was slated to be published in eight countries when it debuted in September 2023. Her latest picture book, "Miles Morales: Through a Hero's Eyes," debuts November 7, adding a Disney/Marvel story to her long list of proud achievements. Millner is a graduate of Hofstra University.
