I initially joined HBP Systems to oversee the marketing activities of the business.In this role I learnt a lot about our target audience, our product range and the benefits that could be provided through a correctly managed and installed IT solution.Our main focus was (and still is) online and we became early adopters of PPC marketing and email marketing as well as using more traditional marketing mediums to help communicate our messages and drive interest in our services.As well as managing the marketing team I also worked closely with the Directors and Senior Management team to help drive the growth of our organisation by reaching out to new businesses and educating existing customers about the range of solutions we provide, and the benefits they offered.I worked in this role for 5 years before being offered the chance to move into my current role as Commercial Director.

As Marketing Manager for a small, council owned, theatre I was responsible for generating interest in upcoming events and shows and helping to increase audience numbers.This role allowed me to understand B2C marketing better that I had done in the past as well as developing my copy writing and direct marketing skills.

For many years I have worked as a Freelance Marketing Consultant, helping business get the most from their marketing, which a particular emphasis on online and PPC marketing. This experience has allowed me understand a wide range of industries from financial services, construction, marine and housing which I firmly believes helps me in my role today. I have seen huge success with the businesses I've worked with and it has also provided me with the chance to work with a number of companies in the UAE where online marketing was still in its infancy. By using my skills in this area we have been able to capitalise on a lot of opportunity that would have been missed through traditional sales and marketing approaches. Although I no longer work in a freelance capacity, I still enjoy discussing different approaches to sales and marketing with companies from all industries and continue to do so whenever I get the opportunity.

Between my second and third years of University I began to look for some work experience within the marketing sector and sent out around 100 letters to businesses in, and around, the village in Essex where I'm from.I received just one reply and an opportunity to work for Command Publicity, supporting the PR Manager for three months.The experience I had at Command Publicity gave me an appetite to work in PR and marketing which has led me on the path I am today.
