Family Coordinator And State TrainerNAMI-NYC Metro was founded in 1979 by a small group of parents whose children suffered from a mental illness. NAMI is a grass-root organization that provides support, education, and advocacy for families an individuals of all ethnic and socioeconomic background who live with a mental illness. As the largest affiliate, we work collaboratively with out state and national affiliates and other stakeholders in the community to educate the public, advocate for legislation,reduce stigma, and improve the mental health system.
