Instrument Lead - New Product DevelopmentManage the flow of information to cross functional teams within development project (mainly involving instrument testing and development activities) while performing tests at the system level. This often requires:- Delegating tasks to team members- Prioritizing tasks addressing issues and challenges to meet high level schedules- Collaborating with team for solutions and progressDevelop action plans for instrument development that fit within the system schedule Create prototypes for testing innovative molecular diagnostic systems using:- 3D modeling - Machining of raw material - milling, lathing, drilling, tapping, etc.- 3D printing - FDM, SLA- Laser cutting- Quoting/purchasing parts - off the shelf, machined, laser cut, printed, etc.- Electronics - power supplies, oscilloscope, multimeter, sensors, electromechanical, PCB, mbed, Arduino, etc.- Software - SolidWorks, LabVIEW, Matlab, C++, Lua, Comsol, MastercamPhysical systems integration and tuning of assembled prototypes to ensure the intended behavior for the scientist(s). This activity often requires:- Routine troubleshooting, repair, and development- User process optimization in laboratory setting - Design of Experiments in cell processes (BSLI, BSL2)- Support to scientists Actively generate creative, novel, and useful innovations for the development of company IP and perform technological analysis of competitor products.Generate, manage, and analyze multidisciplinary data sets in the field of biochemistry, optics, thermodynamics, mechanics and electronics and generate feasibility and performance reports of device development progress.conduct contextual inquiry interviews and analyze data to define user needs.
