At Safaricom PLC I am a product manager responsible for two product roles: Cloud Computing and Digital Capabilities. Safaricom PLC is responsible for pioneering mobile money in Kenya through it's flagship product, MPesa.In Safaricom, cloud computing encompasses Safaricom’ s own private cloud, Microsoft Azure,MS Modern Workplace, Google Cloud, Google Workspace, Huawei Cloud and AWS. Digital Capabilities on the other hand involves custom bespoke solutions/ custom software builds for our clientele.From a market perspective, solutions under my purview are sold to both upmarket and down-market segments. I therefore have to have a strategy in place for each.

In order to support Britam's business vision, the management of Britam Holdings Ltd sought PwC’s assistance to carry out an assessment of their IT function and develop a strategy based on building on their strengths while finding solutions for the gaps and areas of improvement identified.The IT strategy and Enterprise architecture called for a refresh of Britam's IT environment including an overhaul of its IT infrastructure and implementation of new business systems.Following this outcome, we were subsequently engaged to setup a Program management office to oversee the transformation program.Notable achievements in the project were:• Rallying all work streams to work towards a common goal• Consistently providing program updates to management and senior leadership at Britam• Managing scope and prioritizing activities to ensure team effectiveness• Leading daily stand –up meetings to take stock of the hits and misses• Delivered above the client's expectations and awarded follow on work.

The broad objective of this consultancy was to assess the level of performance of the selected Counties based on the county integrated development plans for 2013-17. With reference to the County Integrated Development Plans, Fiscal strategy documents, all sectoral government policies both national and county, M&E plans and all other relevant county and national documents, the consultancy undertook a thorough qualitative and quantitative assessment of the development plans and implementation reports of all sectors. The consultancy was aimed at assessing the impact of county activities at end-term of the CIDP 2013-17, including an objective assessment of the performance of the indicators at the goal, outcome and output levels.I was responsible for Makueni, Meru and Turkana counties. During the assignment, I worked as an enumerator responsible for obtaining information pertaining to :• Adequacy of staffing levels to achieve county objectives• Impact of political meddling in the execution of county projects• Level of public participation in the prioritization of county projects and initiatives• Mechanisms in place to tackle project risks and issues during execution• The impact county projects and initiatives have had on the livelihoods of locals from economic and social perspectivesAs an analyst, in accordance with international best practice, I used criteria of 5 principles to guide the evaluation process. These principles include; relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, sustainability and strategic alignment. Upon reviewing each county’s plans, budget and fiscal strategy documents, I developed a report on each county’s development record and the impact that the devolved units have had on citizens in their first term, lessons learnt and the way forward for devolution to achieve the desired results.

KBA tasked us with managing the project for the implementation of the first African Banking Payments Ecosystem that allows for real time transaction processing across all banks and deposit taking institutions accounts in Kenya. The project-involved installation of a new payments transactions switch system that would act as a gateway for the exchange of real time transactions across all KBA member institutions.In setting us up for success, I :• Visited all bank teams to pitch the project(43 in total)• Worked as the technical lead in ideation and implementation stages with each of the bank teams• Followed up with each institution on a daily basis to track progress and mitigate emerging risks and issues• Arranged and led UAT sessions with 30 bank teams• Took part in customer journey development and refinement• Ensured all stakeholders were well informed and presented necessary information for decision making throughout the projectBecause of our efficiencies during planning and execution project phases, KBA noted a remarkable improvement in terms of the time taken to on-board banks from the earlier Cheque Truncation Project (CTS) also carried out by the Kenya Bankers Association.Pesa-Link has since transacted Billions of shillings and am proud to have been part of the landmark project.

The KDIC engaged us to work closely with their staff and selected vendors of ICT systems through a transparent tendering process to review the existing business processes, develop systems specification documentation and guide them in the implementation of an integrated ICT solution to manage their business activities, which included:• Fund management• Operations• HR• Research• Finance and LiquidationDuring this assignment, I was responsible for the following:• Business Process Review and mapping• Conducting user department interviews to elicit system user requirements (both functional requirements and non-functional requirements• Systems requirements definition• Tender documents preparation• Provided guidance to the tender evaluation committee over tender evaluationProvided guidance over systems selection• Provided technical advisory over implementation of the selected solution(s)In setting us up for success, I ensured we had a good grasp of KDIC’s business operations before embarking on systems requirements definition. This ensured we helped them acquire a system that fit their needs and not a system they would have to adapt to/ make compromises because of missing system features.

*Worked as part of a team of 3 tasked with the design, development and commissioning of a warehouse management system for the company's Safe Box project.*Collaborated on all stages of systems development lifecycle, from requirement gathering to production releases.

Worked as part of a team that migrated data center and setup new ICT infrastructure when the office moved from Spring Valley to the UN Complex during this period.
