My role at Sunfrog was to bring in good workers, and keep them once we got them hired on. I would do the interviews, selecting applicants to interview from Indeed and walk in applications. I would then interview them to figure out if they were a good fit for the company. If they were a good fit, I would take them on a walk through in the factory to sell them on working with our company. I also developed a new employee orientation that I presented to them on their first day, going over rules and expectations to ensure it was an easy transition to work with our company. The Retention aspect of the job was mostly me building relationships with our employees so they felt safe coming to me with any issues they were experiencing. While I was there I developed an employee newsletter, slide show for all over the plant to keep employees in the loop on what was happening in the factory, and organized multiple employee appreciation days (end of summer BBQ, bowling and movie day, chili cook-off, etc.). In the Retention aspect of the role I was essentially an employee advocate, hearing what was going wrong with employees on the floor and finding creative ways to help with those issues. While I was in my role we saw a dramatic decrease in turnover, going from around 80% to around 25%, and employee culture was at an all-time best!

My job was to get the Business Resource Network (BRN) developed in Otsego County. In my role I recruit businesses to join the BRN, and work as a Success Coach for employees that work for business that join. I was able to get the pilot program up and running in Otsego and Crawford County, with 7 businesses signing on. As a Success Coach on work sites, I worked with employees to overcome any barriers to employment that they are experiencing so they can remain employed, as well as reduce the turnover cost to employers. I performed this service by networking in the community to leverage community resources to help those I serve, as well as act as a case manager with the employees I worked with.

I had two roles at COOR/ROOC. One of my roles is in the Adult Transition Center, where I was the Community Based Supervisor. In that role I oversaw the Paraprofessionals in the room on training sites, make partnerships with local businesses to establish more training sites for the students, and make the schedules we use for the class. In the Community Based Supervisor role I also had to data track. I changed the way we data track, using Google Forms instead of the paper and pencil method that was being used previously. The Employment Placement Specialist position I worked with Michigan Rehabilitation Services to help find community employment for people with disabilities in the surrounding areas. I also would teach Job Clubs and Job Exploration Clubs, where we would teach the soft skills needed to work in the community, as well as explore potential jobs/careers for students in local high schools.

In this position I was the college and career advisor for two schools in Manistee County, Manistee and Brethren High Schools. My duties included: Interacting on a daily basis with high school students and families in the assigned high school to provide relevant information about post-secondary education and the college choice/financial aid processes, encourage each student to consider a broad range of appropriate college choices, develop a comprehensive college timeline (including application deadlines for admission and financial aid for each student), help each student complete and submit admissions and financial aid applications, assist each student in interpreting correspondence from colleges, including offers of admission and financial aid.
