Mr. Murphy has specialized in the general legal representation of public entities for the entire period of his admission (excepting his judicial clerkship). Mr. Murphy has extensive experience in the defense of civil rights claims of all kinds, Title 59 defense, Open Public Records Act (OPRA) issues, Open Public Meeting Act (OPMA) issues, election and campaign finance matters, planning and zoning matters and specialized litigation going to the proper exercise of governmental authority. He has successfully litigated these types of matters in both the state and federal courts of New Jersey, as well as before the New Jersey Office of Administrative Law.Mr. Murphy currently serves as General Counsel and Special Counsel to both municipalities large and small, urban and suburban.Mr. Murphy has also lectured on such topics as Local Government Ethics, Pay to Play and Campaign Finance and Election Law.Mr. Murphy was featured in the New Jersey Rising Stars “Super Lawyer” publication for his work in the area of general litigation.As legal counsel to different public entities, he provides advice and counsel on a daily basis designed to avoid legal problems while safeguarding the client’s legal rights.
