Denis Topolnik, M.Sc., is a senior expert and specialist with more than 20 years of experience in leading projects in rural development and Agrifood - Agricultural economics. He acts as a project manager and expert in many international and national projects within the EU in agricultural economics and investments. He is also a researcher active on research projects co-financed by the Slovenian Research Agency and a member of the professional council of the Slovenian association for integrated vegetable production. He is developing and managing the Green Point Short Food Supply Chain for many years, implementing innovative approaches and technologies in the food supply chains, including circular economy-based models, food waste management, etc. He is a specialist adviser for farmers and SME’S in the areas of agricultural economics. Currently, he is involved in many EU projects, within different EU programs (Interreg Slovenia/Austria, Interreg Slovenia/Croatia Interreg Slovenia/Italy, Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE, Erasmus+, Horizon 2020, Interreg Danube, ...), dealing with agricultural tourism, short supply chains, food waste management and digital transformation through the development of DIH AGRIFOOD. He is also transferring development impact from mentioned EU projects to establish different start-ups in his work and management of those companies.
