I teach in the graduate journalism faculty (Sci Po).
Uk/France
My colleagues and I have launched this revival (online at fortnightlyreview.co.uk) of a famous 19th century periodical as an experiment in applying digital technology and modern editorial principles to an older set of design and critical criteria. In 2013, the Fortnightly launched a book series, Odd Volumes, which I edit. The imprint has now grown to 20 titles — poetry, fiction, criticism.
Helped create the editorial "regular guy" voice of the magazine. Columnist for eight years: Uncommon Knowledge, Jimmy the Bartender, Man's Life, etc, and edited special issues (fashion, style). National Magazine Award finalist.
Nantes Area, France
The Institute offered a range of writing workshops and seminars in France in cooperation with an American university. I directed these and also supervised or conducted mentorships with individual writers from throughout the EU, South Africa and North America. Most mentorships emphasized memoir.
For a number of years, I supervised and managed a broad network of experienced trade book professionals in creating transcript-based book content for clients who had only limited time for writing. Over that period, I helped to develop and direct a very reliable process that insured the delivery of high quality manuscripts for hundreds of publishing projects, each informed by a careful regard for unique qualities of voice, flow, narrative and book architecture. It's a challenging process gaining popularity in this publishing segment, and it's one that I understand completely and execute to a very high standard.
I used Folio as a means of developing a very wide network of editors and other publishing professionals.
