Main duties include: overseeing all full-time and adjunct instructors for Chemistry; running department meetings; preparing and revising the schedule of classes to maximize student completion of pathways while being fiscally responsible/efficient; coordinating SLO data accumulation, analysis and reporting; preparing reports such as Program Review and Department Planning Portfolio; representing the department during curriculum reviews of course outlines of record and degrees; handling student complaints; reviewing and approving/denying perquisite waivers and course equivalencies; mentoring faculty; sitting on tenure review committees and developing performance improvement plans; reviewing textbooks and online assessment tools and negotiating prices with vendors; serving as co-chair on hiring committees for faculty and lab staff; writing Resource Requests for new lab equipment/supplies/contracts; and any other duties to help maintain the collegial functioning of the department.

ASCCC Primary Reviewer for Chemistry curriculum for all of the California Community Colleges. The leader for the 5-year review of Chemistry courses and Transfer Model Curriculum for the state of California (CCC, CSU and UC faculty). Working with the UC Office of the President personnel to develop automatic transfer degrees in Chemistry.
