Tenure administration and operational support to a major replaceable Forest license and community Forest, as well as new tenures being established. Between August 2018 and June 2021, I worked at the Branch level within the BC Government’s Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development. I drafted and reviewed policy relative to Land Use Planning and elements of the Forest and Range Practices Act. (FRPA) I supervised and built teams to provide provincial support in Land Use Planning and FRPA implementation to Regional and District operations. I advised on legislative drafting and cabinet operations. I led a team of policy analysts in developing relevant policy. I facilitated an internal government policy advisory committee.

I built and led a team of Forest Professionals providing support to statutory decision makers. Areas of expertise included Forest Act tenure administration, Forest and Range Practices Act submissions and exemptions, Forest Stewardship Planning, timber supply analysis and management plans. I supported the District in the Forest and Range evaluation program, First Nations consultation, permitting, pricing and fibre recovery programs. I facilitated multi sectoral and interagency working groups relating to the management of landscape biodiversity, spruce beetle outbreak and providing fibre access to secondary users.

I developed 5 year operational plans for the Mackenzie TSA on behalf of B.C. Timber Sales with an annual volume of 1.2 million m3. I designed and proposed operationally and economically feasible roads and cut blocks. I worked with Indigenous governments and peoples in communicating these plans and gaining perspective and input. I lead a multi-license working group to collaboratively manage the Mackenzie TSA’s landscape biodiversity order. I reviewed government led proposals on behalf of B.C. Timber Sales (fisheries sensitive watersheds, visual quality objectives, fibre recovery programs, etc.)I worked as the lead silviculturist between March 2008 and September 2009 in the Prince George Business area, completing sowing requests, post harvest assessments, applications for alternative seed use standards, seedling allocation and reforestation contract management for approximately 2.0 million seedlings per annum.

Silviculture forester in a remote area; rail access only! Responsible for an annual operating budget of $3.5 million & full phase silviculture program which included; artificial reforestation, seedling procurement and allocation, contract management, mechanical site preparation, silviculture surveys, manual bushing, sheep grazing & pile burning. Worked with multiple agencies to ensure equipment and personnel were transported via rail. Worked collaboratively with local First Nation to provide contract employment opportunities. Supervised a seasonal field staff of 3.
