By investing in internet infrastructure and making it available to local service providers, CSquared helps bring high-quality broadband access to Africa’s large cities.In 2011, a team at Google identified the need for better urban fiber optic networks in order to expand affordable, reliable broadband in Africa. So Google established Project Link to build world-class, fast, urban fiber networks in Africa’s metropolises, initially Kampala, Uganda and Accra, Ghana. In May of 2017, in order to further expand the project’s reach, the CSquared partnership was born -- combining the expertise,experience, and capital of Google with Mitsui & Co, Convergence Partners, and the International Finance Corporation (IFC). I Led million-dollar competitive tender processes for supply of equipment within Sub Saharan Africa.Designed and deployed 4 metro Ethernet networks in Sub Saharan Africa in Kampala -Uganda, Accra and Kumasi- Ghana, Monrovia-Liberia.Developed business cases and product requirement documents (PRD) for over 12 metro networks in East, west and Southern Africa through collaboration with cross functional teams across Africa and USA. Managed relationships with over 4 active equipment vendors.Ensured timely preparation, approval and adoption of the High and Low-level network designs together with commissioning test plans for networks deployed.

Enhanced internet gateway peering strategy between upstream providers and local internet exchange point that lead to a reduction of IP transit costs paid to upstream provides. Sourced for upstream providers in Europe managed provider relationships. KDN was Seacom’s strategic partner, brining capacity from the landing station, inland to distribute to services to internet service providers (ISPs)and mobile operators(MNOs). Impact of this implementation was a drastic reduction in internet pricing in Kenya and an increase in usage. Engineered the First layer-3(routed service) for one of KDNs biggest clients Barclays bank of Kenya, leading to the adoption of Layer-3 VPN as a service both locally and later internationally through partner providers, launching another revenue stream.
