Growing up I remember my mom telling me how important school was. She encouraged me to go to college as she never had that opportunity. I didn't have many role models and I often doubted my intelligence and lacked self confidence. Unfortunately, I see so many students who struggle with self-confidence as they don't have many people who encourage and push them along their educational and career paths. That's the reason why I pursued a Master's in Counseling because I wanted to be a guide for students. My career journey took me in many directions and that's how I found NOCE. My passion is education and all the avenues that connect with it! In my current role as a Career Resource Center Coordinator under Career Technical Education (CTE), I have the opportunity everyday to assist and guide students, develop workshops, motivate students to continue their education, and invite guest speaker to share their expertise with students, faculty, and staff. I also assist students in their job search by providing resume reviews, interview preparation, and professional online presence on LinkedIn. My excellent ability to plan, organize, and prioritize my work allows me to develop and deliver workshops, oversee Career Center staff, coordinate industry related workshops, and meet with students. Furthermore, I guide and encourage students to transition to college, the workforce, and higher education through special events, such as Career Fairs, collaborating with other colleges, field trips, and exposing students to various career opportunities. I truly enjoy working with students directly and helping them explore their career interests as well as ride with them in their career and academic journey. I addition, it's wonderful to have the opportunity to network with individuals who have undergone many struggles; have fallen and have always gotten up and now are great leaders, speakers, and advocates who can encourage and guide students in their career paths.I love spending time with my family and learning from my children who show kindness and love even when they don't always get their ways. I believe we all have a purpose in life; with proper guidance, tools, and people who truly care for our success we can bloom into the individuals we were meant to be.
