The Center for Health, Identity, Behavior & Prevention Studies (CHIBPS) led by Dr. Perry Halkitis focuses on advancing research and knowledge to improve LGBTQ health with particular emphasis on those affected with or by HIV, substance abuse and mental health burden. We work to address the biological, behavioral, psychological, psychosocial, and structural drivers of health disparities in the LGBTQ population across the lifespan.Responsibilities:•Recruit new participants into the studies through community outreach•Administer surveys and conduct participant assessments•Enter, check and clean quantitative data•Screen and schedule study participants•Transcribe and code qualitative interviews•Assist senior researchers with projects

Rutgers College Support Program (CSP) is a program that supports Rutgers University students on the autism spectrum as they begin, continue and prepare to graduate from the University.

Atlantic Prevention Resources (APR) is an organization that focuses on the prevention of substance use, violence and related behaviors through prevention, treatment and recovery support. APR partners with Join Together Atlantic County (JTAC), a substance misuse prevention coalition in Atlantic County New Jersey. As an intern at APR, I assisted physicians at AtlantiCare and hospice care providers in Atlantic County, NJ in educating patients and their families on proper drug disposal methods through the use of Deterra prescription drug deactivation pouches. I created a press release about the significance of this project which was then sent to all Atlantic County residents. A total of 8 hospices were found in Atlantic County, through a google search. I contacted and then set up meetings with hospice care providers in the county to discuss the significance of using Deterra as a proper drug disposal method. At least a total of 625 Deterra pouches was distributed to hospices and AtlantiCare throughout my time interning at APR. Other work includes:• Assisting with the Strengthening Families Program (SFP)• Assisting and attending meetings with Join Together Atlantic County (JTAC) and the Atlantic County Opiate Task Force• Distributing Deterra drug disposal pouches to hospice care providers and physicians at AtlantiCare in Atlantic County, NJ
