Profile bio

About Denise Robles

I am a senior majoring in Bioengineering and Business Administration at UC Berkeley. I am a Regents’ and Chancellor’s Scholar, Hispanic Scholarship Scholar- for 3 years in a row, and CAA Alumni Scholar. My goal is to be a biotech consultant, so that I can work to make biotech more accessible to people of different socioeconomic backgrounds-not just the highest 20%. My ultimate career goal is to someday start a biotech company. I'm very good at learning things quickly, as a first generation Hispanic student, I have experienced many situations in which I learn as I do. So far in college, I have participated in many activities, however, some of my favorites are being an administrator of the Phi Sigma Rho- women in stem sorority, being a consultant for Paragon Consulting, participating in research for the Streets Lab, and being involved in the Biomedical Engineering Society. Since Junior year of high school, I have had very surreal experiences. For example, through MOSTEC, I worked on a Computational Biology and Genomics related project, which led me to gain more interest in bioengineering. In the summer of 2020, I was selected to participate in Berkeley’s Pre-Engineering Program (PREP), which allowed me to expand my knowledge on utilizing technology to solve real-world problems. Excitingly, I have been doing research since my first summer at Cal! Additionally, from coaching to giving out motivational speeches at elementary schools, I possess a great passion to support the future generations as they undergo different journeys. All in all, I plan to attend graduate school and use my experiences and knowledge to create innovative biomedical devices that are accessible to many.
