I provide contracted professional development to school districts in the areas of literacy, co-teaching/inclusion, Common Core Literacy, success for students with learning disabilities, teacher support, teaching strategies, and RTI. I am a national presenter with the Bureau of Education and Research. I also work with students on a case-by-case referral basis, conducting Diagnostic Reading Assessments with detailed interpretations and recommendations. Currently teaching a graduate class at Seattle University. Previously, I taught at Florida International University with the department of Education and Psychological Studies in the College of Education and Barry University, in Miami, FL.When I left the classroom after 20 years of teaching to work at the district office (M-DCPS), I really missed teaching. I always knew that teaching was my passion, but I learned that whether the student was 6 or 26 - it was definitely a passion of mine, and that opened the door to higher education for me. I began teaching at Barry University and Florida International University to get my teaching fix. I absolutely love it. For eight years I was in the District Office of Miami-Dade County Public Schools working in Special Ed, with part of that time as Supervisor for Programs for Learning Disabilities. That was by far the most satisfying years of my work. I also spent two years in the Office of Professional Development, expanding my work with teachers from all areas and levels.My beginnings in the field of education was as a teacher for students with learning disabilities, where I taught in the classroom for twenty years in three different schools, working in multicultural and multi-linguistic settings.
