About the artistDenise Krammer is Brazilian independent singer and songwriter, living in Cologne, Germany. She studied Música Popular Brasileira (MPB) and Songwriting in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Jazz and Composition in Örebro (Sweden) and made her Master of Music at Musikhochschule Köln (Germany). Denise has a teaching assignment for Brazilian Music at University of Hildesheim (Germany). As Samba specialist, Denise was appointed jury member at Rio's traditional carnival parade for many years. Brazilian music is her passion but she also sings Jazz, Musical and Pop (English and German). Denise performs solo, in duo and trio combinations and with her band. She played live at the German national TV station “WDR”, performed as main act at the Koblenz International Guitar Festival, played for the Philharmonie of Cologne, at the Frankfurt Book Fair and at numerous festivals. Since March 2020, Denise inspires Brazilians and lovers of Brazilian culture around the world in her weekly live stream “Conexão MPB” on radio NOSSA FM (São Paulo). Her latest project is the podcast "Bobeira, mas eu ri", premiered in October 2020.About the albumAfter her MPB-album “Interseção” (2011), Denise released her 3rd album “Coisa Linda“ (2019), recorded in Rio and showing different colors of Samba: from traditional Samba-de-Roda and Gafieira, over young modern Samba with Beatbox arrangement and influences of Jazz, over the melancholia and nostalgia of Chorinho or the “naivety” of Samba-da-Bahia, to the Samba-Enredo, known from Rio’s world-famous carnival parade.With the album “Coisa Linda”, Denise aims to musically unite her home country, which is suffering deep social discrepancies, by pointing out the beauty of Brazil and the Brazilian culture: she sings about the Brazilian way of life, which faces poverty with swing and lightheartedness (track 01), praises the pride of the black soul (track 04) , the strength of self-determined women (track 02) and the richness of Brazilian food (track 07). She tells the story of Samba from its origin in the backyards of the poor to its world-famous carnival (track 09) and holds a love declaration to the melting pot Rio de Janeiro (track 10). In Germany, the album won 6 “Deutscher Rock & Pop Preis” awards.
