One being the development of new technologies that would rely on acoustics and the improvement of those available for the use of X-ray crystallography to try and increase the speed and accuracy at which scientists in the field, including ourselves could easily use and benefit. The second front consisted of using those technologies to expose proteins of interest such as SOD1 (superoxide dismutase 1), which has been implicated in ALS, to a variety of crystallization conditions and fragment libraries to validate its structure and any compounds that would bind and potentially impart a medically relevant biochemical effect on the protein’s behavior.
