As Chief of the Office of Policy for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, I served as the principal policy advisor to the Director of an 18,000 employee agency responsible for adjudicating immigration benefits. I was responsible for leading the formulation of national immigration policy and drafting of regulations. Additionally, I managed an office with a budget of over $10 million and a staff of over 100 employees, consisting of lawyers, economists, policy analysts, statisticians, demographers and social scientists. Prior to joining the Federal Government, I was a partner and associate at Patton Boggs LLP where I practiced immigration law. I was also a member of the firm's Executive, Management and Recruitment Committees and chaired the Pro Bono Committee.
