I am currently in the Central Valley area of CA as a high school English teacher in a Performing Arts Academy. I received my B.A. in English Education and MA in English (Rhetoric Composition), I'm Linked Learning Coach trained, and Google Educator Certified. I have taught AP language and Honors courses, 10th grade world literature, 12 grade ERWC and English duel enrollment courses for Porterville College, and worked in the CTE Partnership Academy of Business and Finance. Academy cross curricular courses provided students with real world opportunities to work with our local business partners, craft resumes and technical writings, build networking skills, and launch their own business or performances as a senior year capstone project. Through my last 10 years in the classroom, my students have taught me the essential value of developing empathy-building, relevant, and socially meaningful learning experiences. Through continuously taking student feedback and assessment data into consideration while educating myself on modern digital practices as well as culturally responsive instruction, I have become passionate about working with individuals to create an educational environment that meets the social-emotional and critical-thinking needs of our unique and diverse student population. I have had a comprehensive experience in Porterville teaching in a Business and Finance Academy while also teaching dual-enrollment Literary Criticism and Composition courses through Porterville College in our low-socioeconomic and impacted public high school setting. This has challenged me to provide lessons that meet the individual interests, various skill strengths, technological limitations, and language and reading barriers and gaps for our modern thinkers while still meeting site, district, and academy pathway expectations for college and career readiness. I have thrived on this challenge and I regularly attend professional development at the district, state, and national level concerning English Language instruction, Linked Learning Academy and project-based learning, and cross-curricular instruction. I am open to all groups dealing with English, writing, teaching, education technology, and any other related areas.
