The International Development Project (IDP) is an annual committee supervised by SEFA, which offers five students with hands-on experiences to make a difference in a local community of a developing country in a highly autonomous and practical manner. The IDP collaborates with an NGO or charity to address a socioeconomic issue and conducts one month of field research at a targeted developing nation, after one year of rigorous academic research. This allows us to apply our knowledge in the field, whilst simultaneously providing the partner organisation with five higher educated academics without charge. The mutually beneficial arrangement serves to help the local population of a developing country in a sustainable and meaningful manner.As the treasurer of the committee, I am in charge of supervising all financial aspects of the activities organised by the committee—including fundraising and operational activities—as well as managing a budget and preparing realized financial statements.
