I returned to Rosetta Stone tasked with an important mission to take the lead on a big test automation project supporting the Foundations backend web services platform. I was given the freedom to implement the test automation design and strategy how I would envision it thereby building out an array of modular test automation frameworks with each targeting a specific backend web services application using Ruby and RSpec. I established early on what I considered to be best practices, good coding conventions, styles and patterns in an effort to make the development process easier and faster while attempting to maintain reasonable consistency between similar test automation frameworks. I worked closely with the DevOps team to integrate these test automation frameworks into the CI/CD pipelines facilitated by Jenkins. I also helped out the backend web services platform team with sprint deliverables work needing testing support in order for them to meet their aggressive deadlines delivering API functionality in support of new product features and enhancements in coordination with QA analysts supporting the mobile and web client focused development teams.

I was a QA Engineer assigned to an agile software development scrum team supporting feature development for finance related solutions being delivered as part of the Jenzabar EX/i platform. I performed day-to-day UI, functional, and integration testing of stories and bugs being iterated on by my team each sprint cycle. I worked as a Customer Engineer to maintain and troubleshoot computer related technologies for both the financial and retail markets in the IT industry. My main focus was on computer hardware and networking with some software related responsibilities. Most of the technology I was exposed to was standard PC hardware designed for specific tasks including both retail POS (Point Of Sale) and ATMs. Job responsibilities included maintaining work orders via trouble-ticketing, parts inventory (both forward and reverse logistics) and reference databases for all customers I interacted with daily.

I worked as a Satellite Controller to monitor and control a fleet of 5 spacecraft from 3 platform types; Space Systems Loral FS-1300 and Lockheed Martin LM-7000 spacecraft initially operated by Intelsat and acquired by New Skies Satellites in 1998, as well as the new Lockheed Martin A2100 series spacecraft. I performed various duties ranging from spacecraft operations to software development to writing and implementing operational and contingency procedures for spacecraft and ground system operations and maintenance. I worked closely with the Epoch 2000 Satellite Ground Systems software/ hardware from Integral Systems and the Cortex NT software/hardware from INSNEC. I played an influential role in planning, designing and implementing the operational concepts and standards for the New Skies Satellite Operations Control center. I also implemented much of the groundwork to the GUI for which the Epoch 2000 system was utilized at New Skies from an end user point of view to ensure an intuitive ease of use experience for an efficient monitor and control environment with the tools that Integral Systems has provided. While working at New Skies I gained a good bit of knowledge and experience in other areas of programming and basic Unix/Linux administration to various phases of development, testing and integration of software and hardware solutions for deployment of spacecraft/ground equipment monitor and control systems and their respective platforms.

As a Satellite Controller I monitored the health and status of the ORION F-1 spacecraft as well as controlled and configured it for safe operations using GSS & STORM satellite and ground system software operations terminals. I also played a supporting role in station-keeping maneuvers as a command controller and command and telemetry verifier in coordination with the Flight Operations Procedure Coordinator and Subsystems/Flight Engineer. I was trained to respond correctly to anomalies on various spacecraft conditions. Other duties included logkeeping, report generation and editing, modifying and building of spacecraft and ground systems procedures for operational and maintenance purposes.As a TT&C Controller I monitored the health and status of and controlled and configured all ground systems RF & Baseband equipment hardware and software for safe operations. I also performed and assisted in basic maintenance of all ground systems equipment hardware using the preventive maintenance system.

My job rate in the US Navy was Operations Specialist and I performed various duties in both a combat and navigation environment known as the Combat Direction Center.Various duties and job functions I performed included the following...Air Detector Tracker -- which consisted of detecting, tracking and identification of air contacts. This included surveillance of commercial air traffic ways, hostile air contacts, and missiles.ATM/STM Operator -- to manage and trouble shoot ACDS Programs and Radar Systems.ID Operator -- to manage and identify all contacts such as surface, air and subsurface contacts. Other duties included to assist Track Supervisor in managing the Link.Surface Module Radar Operator -- that included detecting, tracking, and identification of surface contacts. The duties included log-keeping, encoding and decoding of signal transmissions, and communications between ships in a battle group. Execution of maneuvering plot board which included navigating, avoidance courses, true wind, and ship’s wind problems, ship to station problems, and safe navigation that included operating the dead reckoning tracer. Also performed duties as a fusion plot board operator which gave me managing experience in keeping a tactical picture for ship’s battle group.Air Direction Controller -- in which I controlled ship’s aircraft (A-6’s and S-3’s). I was in charge of SSC Operations and kept close control of all SSC Aircraft, transmitted and received SSC information between pilot and ship, coordinated ship’s combat and tactical picture with Surface Radar Operator, JMSCIS Controller, and Fusion Plotter. As a team, we were successful in the efficiency of the ship’s combat operations.
