For over three decades, I have worked within Intellectual Property (IP) with an expertise in patents. My apprenticeship in patents began in 1990 when I developed my knowledge of the patent system from the inside out working as a USPTO Patent Examiner. Since completing my law degree, I have enjoyed my career in both the U.S. and Canada working as in-house patent counsel and within private practice for firms of all sizes ranging from "national" to "boutique." My experiences along the way have become an asset for my clients and my assisting them to build value in their IP portfolios while providing them with the guidance to make better business decisions. I am well-versed in the procurement of patents, having examined, drafted, and prosecuted an accumulation of well over 600 U.S. patents and many more corresponding foreign patents across a broad spectrum of technical processes, products, and advanced technologies. My specialties include U.S., Canadian, and PCT patent application preparation and negotiation in the areas of mechanical, electromechanical, electrical, electronic, and computer-related inventions in diverse commercial applications ranging from telecommunications to medical technology and almost everything in between.
